Spy Axe is a rogue security tool that invades the user's computer without their knowledge or consent. It promotes its installation and use under the premise of being completely capable of removing unwanted spyware. This application provides a continual stream of messages that the computer user's computer is infected with numerable undesirables such as spyware, adware, malware, and viruses.
Spy Axe presents the messages in an official looking window that typically opens at the bottom of the computer screen. It offers alarming messages about the security of the computer being at risk. All of these messages are false and designed to encourage the purchase of a full version of Spy Axe in order to remove the unwanted programs. Although you may now have unwanted spyware on your computer due to Spy Axe, the purchase of its full version will do nothing to remove it.
Unfortunately, this program, Spy Axe, is generally force installed be an even more undesirable Trojan or two. Trojans are extremely tenacious and require more than the typical removal that can be accomplished in the Add/Remove Program utility.
Computer owners can attempt to remove SpyAxe using the following steps provided here:
- Go to Noahdfear using your Internet browser.
- You will need to download the SmitRemfix.
- Save the file for SmitRemfix to your desktop.
- Next, you need to uninstall all of the files into a separate folder, since you do not want to run the program until your computer is in safe mode. Double clicking on the icon and clicking on the word start will accomplish this. It will create its own individual folder as it extracts the files.
- Click ok when it has finished extracting the files.
- Restart your computer in its safe mode. You can do this by rebooting your computer and pressing the F8 button while it is rebooting. You must do this before the Windows icon appears on the screen.
- Open the SmitRem folder that is on your desktop.
- Double click on the icon titled "RunThis.bat", and this will begin scanning your computer for spyware.
- Follow the prompts in order to complete the process. Read each window as it appears. Allow the scan to complete its task.
- If an uninstall window for SpyAxe appears, it is important that you click uninstall. It will automatically close upon completion of the uninstall process.
- Follow the prompts that are given.
- Once all installations have been completed, the disk cleanup program will run. This will remove any temporary or leftover files from the SpyAxe program.
- Reboot your computer into normal mode when the disk cleanup program has finished running.
