"To the kind folks that developed this tool... Thank you so much!! My computer used to take forever to load Windows and I knew there was some kind of problem because strange messages would appear. I really didn't know how to fix it as I am a newbie but my friend Phil recommended your site. I then followed your advice and downloaded the regcure tool and it found exactly 222 errors. I knew my computer was hurting but I didn't think it was that bad!! Anyways, I cleaned all of the errors and now it only takes a couple minutes to load. For me, that's a lot as it stresses me out to have to sit there and wait any longer then that. Anyways, just wanted to congratulate you for speeding up my computer and to keep up the great work." - Tonya L. More about File Extensions A file extension is the set of characters in a filename starting withe the final period and usually ending with two to three characters. These characters designate the format of a particular file. For example, the extension of the Microsoft Word format is "doc" as in "resume.doc". The Windows operating system will then lookup the program that is associated with this file's extension and launch the application so that the file can be opened, viewed, and/or edited. A select few extensions are a little bit different than others in that they signify a program that can be "executed" or launched. These include .exe (executable), .com (command), .cmd (command as well), and .bat (batch processing). Because files that end in these extensions cause a program to run, they pose a security risk. This is why you here people advise others to only run programs you know are safe. Traditionally, back in the DOS days, file extensions were only allowed to be a maximum of three characters in length. Now the limit is much larger and there are thousands of different file formats for hundreds of thousands of software programs. Because of the number of software installs and deletes or uninstalls people do on their PC, the registry can be cluttered with extension errors. RegCure will resolve these errors so that your computer will run fast and without problems, just like it did when it was new.
