A Better Internet

A Better Internet is a Browser Helper Object or BHO for short. A Better Internet is a silent installer and installs onto a computer without the owner’s knowledge or consent. It is capable of starting up every time that the infected computer starts up.

A Better Internet tracks the browser habits of the computer user and stores the information in order to send targeted advertisement messages to the user. Typically, the messages are designed to entice the user to purchase a product or service. The advertisements are typically in the form of annoying pop up messages that disrupt the computer’s functioning.

A Better Internet may also install additional adware or spyware onto the infected computer. The more adware and spyware a user has, the more unstable the computer becomes. Adware and spyware usurp the Internet bandwidth of the infected computer causing it to become sluggish or unpredictable. Computers with high speed connections begin to resemble computers with dial up connections.

The best way to deal with A Better Internet is to remove the application as quickly and completely as possible. An anti-spyware program that is up to date can be used to rid the computer of A Better Internet. Additionally, computer users may attempt to remove A Better Internet manually by completing the instructions that follow.

However, manual removal is a bit tricky. Therefore, all computer files should be backed up prior to attempting a manual removal, especially one that involves the registry editor.

You will need to remove the registry values and files associated with A Better Internet. The process is tedious and time consuming. However, each file and key needs to be deleted, so it is important that you complete the following directions.
  • Click Start.
  • Click Run.
  • Type 'regedit'.
  • Click ok to open the registry editor, referred to as regedit.
  • Click my computer at the top of the box.
  • Click edit.
  • Click find.
  • Type in the one of the keys or files in the following lists, and click find or find next. Begin with the ones that do not start with HKEY, since these are more easily discovered and deleted. Make sure that the box is checked in front of keys, values, and data, so that the regedit looks in the correct places. Regedit should locate a key for you. Right click on the key and delete it by clicking delete in the menu that appeared or on the keyboard.
  • You will do this one file at a time. After you delete each one, hit the F3 key on your keyboard to reopen the find next box. Continue the process and delete additional bad registry files.
  • Once regedit indicates that the search is finished, you should click on my computer in the regedit and redo the search to guarantee that you have deleted all possible bad files from this program.
